For about half the running time (it's only 80 minutes long), I was frustrated by the idiocy of the dumb characters, but when it became clear that the movie hinged upon the stupid behavior and language of these lunatics, I tried to settle into the languid groove of it all.
The movie has a real nasty mean streak (which is a plus), and fans of brutal independent horror films would do well by seeking this out, as it went completely under the radar when it was originally released.
A globe trotting giallo from director Sergio Martino, who was a real pro at these types of films, The Case of the Scorpion's Tail holds water as a thriller and as a horror slasher, with some real doozy kills, particularly the first one and a little later with an eye-gouging scene that had me wincing.

Keoma is another winner thanks to plenty of stylized action, memorable characters, and a story that works.
Some less demanding or experimental viewers will be elated by this, while others will shrug it off as ultra hip gainsaying within the confines of grief and loss.
The movie gets stranger as it goes along, reminding me a little bit of Alejandro Jodorowsky's El Topo (1970), which this movie emulates in a number of ways.
