The Shack is a little too long and heavy handed with its message but I found it uplifting and moving with a story we could all relate to.

The Lego Batman Movie is entertaining for younger viewers and older Batfans will enjoy the references/in-jokes but it isn't particularly memorable nor as hilarious as it could have been.
La La Land is a mostly uplifting, funny and heartfelt story of two people trying to reach their dreams but fall in love with each other along the way. It's nicely acted with catchy tunes even for people (like me) who hate musicals.

Fist Fight is pretty much what you expect it to be offering nothing new to the High School comedy genre but it has a few funny moments to maybe worth a rental.
Split is a unique and chilling movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout but is let down by the emergence of the "Beast" which does take you out of it a little.
Patriot's Day may well be Mark Wahlberg's finest hour in terms of acting and the rest of cast are at the top of their game. Harrowing and incredibly intense it may not be a film you'll rewatch very often but you should at least watch it once.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was quite disappointing which sadly underused Eva Green and gave us a bland lead character in Jack. For Burton completists only.
