Henry Cavill Set to Play The Highlander in the Upcoming Remake from Chad Stahelski

This is an interesting piece of casting although as a genuine Scotsman I am disappointed I wasn’t chosen for the role. Oh well, the Man of Steel himself Henry Cavill has been cast in the upcoming remake of Highlander from director Chad Stahelski. I don’t hate this casting and Cavill is a decent actor with a Scottish background so we can expect plenty of action too with Stahelski involved.

Deadline states that Neal H. Moritz and Josh Davis are producing the project. Amanda Lewis, Patrick Wachsberger and Gregory Widen will exec produce. Peter Davis, the original producer of the first film, was also on board to produce before his death this past February.

If they are playing the same characters then I’ve always wanted Antonio Banderas to play Ramirez so we shall see how the rest of the casting process goes. They’ll be hard pushed to top Clancy Brown as The Kurgan. Maybe The Mountain from Game of Thrones?
