A terrible alien force threatens everyone on Earth – including all its superheroes – and only two super kids can make it right.

Review:

Clark Kent and Lois Lane have an 11-year old son named Jonathan, who they realize is coming into his own in terms of receiving super powers, and so they choose to reveal to him the fact that his father is, in fact, THE Superman! It’s news to his ears, but with that knowledge comes a massive amount of responsibility. Superman takes Jonathan to Gotham City where he has Batman test him for other powers, and that’s when Jonathan meets Damian, Batman’s son who is Jonathan’s age, but with a spitfire of a personality. Damien is antisocial and has a huge chip on his shoulder, but he has an inherent desire to be a part of a team, especially since the Teen Titans rejected him for being too selfish and arrogant. When an extremely powerful and massive alien starfish from another galaxy secretly invades Earth and manages to overtake millions of people’s minds and wills away in a quiet invasion, the creature quickly sets out to overtake all super powered beings – including Superman and Batman and Lex Luthor, who is the POTUS – in one fell swoop, which would ordinarily spell doom for the planet … except Jonathan and Damien realize what’s happening in the nick of time. They team up and get to work in saving the planet – and their parents – from the point of no return.

A highly entertaining and exciting feature from the DC Animated line, Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons is one of the best recent films in the franchise with solid scripting, attractive animation, a great score, and a relentless but engaging pace. The film never slows down or dips, and the themes are relatable and fun for kids or adults, but especially for fans of the characters. I had a great time with this one, much more so than many of the recent movies from the DC Animated Universe. This one was directed by Matt Peters.

Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons is out now on a 4K Ultra HD / Blu-ray / Digital Code combo pack, but there’s also a Blu-ray / Digital Code combo choice as well. The disc comes with two bonus cartoons and “Rival Sons: Jonathan and Damien,” a new bonus feature.
