Put Your Devil Into My Hell (1972) Full Moon Blu-ray Review

Verdict
2.5

Summary

It’s nicely shot, well lit, easy to watch, but it’s not really funny or particularly memorable, with bedroom hopping, clothes dropping to floor in nearly every scene, and a quaint score by Stelvio Cipriani. Filmmaker Bitto Albertini’s work here doesn’t really impress, and nor is it meant to. This is disposable trash, but if you’re in the mood for a mindless, unsophisticated exploitation feature, then look no further.

Plot:

A Lothario in a village vows to have sex with every woman in town … but one woman proves to be a challenge.

Review:

In an Italian village during the Medieval ages, a lothario named Riccardetto (Antonio Cantafora) boasts to his circle of friends that he’s had sex with literally every woman in the village … but they know it’s not true, because there’s one woman in particular that he can’t seem to shag. Try as he might, Riccardetto can’t go all the way with the Mayor’s beautiful blonde wife, despite his best efforts to. His latest scheme has him pretending to be a great painter and convincing the mayor to let him paint her portrait, and though the portrait itself features her fully clothed, he manages to get her to drop her clothes, leading to some close calls, but his progress on the portrait in monitored every moment by the mayor’s staff, who vary in degrees of randiness. The household errand boy / servant of the house is a horny little bugger who peeks in on the undressing (or dressing) of the maids as well as the mayor’s wife, and he also happens to be one of Riccardetto’s buddies. In town, they’re inseparable as they get into all sorts of shenanigans, but they’re not the only horny bastards in the village, oh no. Even the monks and the cardinals who visit the churches are carnally minded creeps, and in one instance, a portly monk finds a nude woman tied to a tree (she was raped by some villagers and left for dead), and instead of coming to her aide, the monk takes his turn! Time after time, the entire village seems to reflect the mortal sins of its inhabitants, and when Riccardetto and a willing maid play a cruel prank on a visiting (and extremely handsy and horny salesman), the last laugh is on the poor guy when he thinks he’s getting laid with the maid, but instead gets a goat (but he never realizes it!).

A spoof on Boccaccio’s The Decameron, Put Your Devil Into My Hell is what is known as a “decamerotici,” in Italian exploitation film terms. It’s an earthy, blasphemous and erotic sex movie, but all done in a very lighthearted tone with toned down sex and nudity in the softcore style. It’s got lots of boobs, bush, and butts, and it’s basically a farce without a plot.

Full Moon’s presentation of Put Your Devil Into My Hell looks surprisingly sharp and beautiful on Blu-ray in a nice widescreen transfer. The film is dubbed into English, with no Italian language option. No other special features are included.
