Verdict
Summary
A creature feature (with practical makeup and effects!) with its heart in the right place, The Yeti unfortunately flounders in the telling with a lethargic, aloof pace, and simply not enough of the yeti creature. The film is set in the golden age of adventure films and stories (think Indiana Jones or King Solomon’s Mines), and while the movie looks good and has all the costume designs down, the film just sort of drags to a limp conclusion. This could’ve been a real winner (the yeti looks cool), and yet there’s just no energy to it.
Plot:
An explorer goes missing, and a crew tries to track him down in the wilderness where he disappeared, only to find … a yeti!
Review:
A wealthy tycoon and his famous wilderness guide disappear in Alaska, and an intrepid bunch of experienced trackers (one guy has a weird half-face mask that suggests he’s encountered hostile creatures in his past) are tasked with trying to solve the mystery of their disappearances. Their leader is Ellie Bannister (Brittany Allen), a tough gal who can handle herself in almost any situation, but when the crew begins to be picked off one by one by a monster in the harsh wilderness, they’ll find out quick enough that a yeti is on their trail! But what’s worse than the creature itself is the truth behind the creature and the two men who disappeared, who aren’t dead at all, but hunkered down in a lab, ready to make their dastardly plans known!

Bonus points (but not enough to put this one over the top) for casting William Sadler and Corbin Bernsen in small supporting roles. Written and directed by Gene Gallerano and William Pisciotta.
After a one-night theatrical release, Well Go USA is about to deliver The Yeti to Blu-ray and DVD. The disc comes out on May 19th, and comes with bonus trailers.
