Why Escape Plan Needs Our Support

The rest of the year is pretty quiet on the action front and for me there is only one movie that matters: Escape Plan starring Sylvester Stallone & Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It looks like it has an interesting story as well as some cool action and despite having the two greatest action stars of all time, it will most likely make little money and disappear without a trace.

To me, that is unacceptable that these two titans of action get such little respect from not only the Studios, but also modern audiences.

Escape Plan is getting very little press; Sly and Arnie will only be doing the talk show circuit in New York… and that’s it.

The fact that they already changed the title from The Tomb to the more generic Escape Plan was the first misstep. Then they also moved the release date, making it look like the studio wants the movie to fail.

Neither actor is exactly box office gold outside of The Expendables series these days and I’m afraid that it looks like that may be the case for the foreseeable future. I hate when people say “they are too old”. No they aren’t.

There isn’t anyone under 30 in Hollywood today who could hold a candle to these guys. Is Clint Eastwood too old? No. Was Charles Bronson in Death Wish? No.

If they were acting like they were 25 then yeah, that might be a problem, but they aren’t. They know they are older now but they are still in fantastic shape and will ALWAYS be the greatest action stars of all time.

But this movie isn’t just about Arnie & Sly; it has a fantastic supporting cast including Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones and… Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson. OK, maybe forget 50 Cent, but the rest of the cast is good.

Rather than an all out explosion-fest, Escape Plan looks like a tense prison thriller with some good banter from our two heroes. We actually get to see Arnold and Sly fight each other too which is something action fans have been waiting for since the 80s.

Escape Plan will be released on October 18th, so when that date comes, I want everyone who is a fan of our site, all 14,000 of you to go and support this movie. Don’t watch it online or wait for it to hit home. Go to the theatre with your buddies and support your action heroes and make Escape Plan a success.

SYNOPSIS: Ray Breslin [Stallone], the world’s foremost authority on structural security, agrees to take on one last job: breaking out of an ultra-secret, high-tech facility called “The Tomb.” But when he is wrongly imprisoned, he must recruit fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer [Schwarzenegger] to help devise a daring, nearly impossible plan to escape from the most protected and fortified prison ever built.

Here’s a new TV Spot to get your blood pumping.

And if that wasn’t enough, here is the trailer. Now get your ass to the cinema on October 18th, unless of course you hit like a vegetarian.
