The Rumour I Want to be True for Rogue One

There’s a new Star Wars film coming out in a few weeks in case you didn’t know called Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Oh wait, everyone knows because there are ads and trailers EVERYWHERE!

I am a huge Star Wars nerd and I always have been and the clips I’ve seen so far make this look like it’s going to be the most visually accomplished of all the Star Wars movies. We’ve got Donnie Yen in it, Imperial Walkers and some spectacular looking action scenes. The most important though? The return of Darth Vader.

We can all admit that he was handled terribly in the Star Wars prequels and this new off-shoot could make Vader badass once more. So far all we’ve seen is The Dark Lord of the Sith walking purposefully towards Krenic (Ben Mendlesohn) and staring into space breathing heavily. That’s all well and good but the only thing I truly want from this movie is that the following rumour that has been floating around the webs for a while is 100% true.

According to Making Star Wars there were storyboard “pitches” for the film that showed ‘decapitated rebels, people being dismembered by Vader throwing his sword, levitating bodies to make human shields, and so on. The art was more violent than what we’ve seen Darth Vader do on screen before.’

This is frankly what we’ve always wanted to see from Darth Vader and if we’re going to have him back in a movie then I want to see him angrier than ever. We know from Revenge of the Sith that he had no problem murdering a roomful of unarmed children but to actually see him on a battlefield fighting fellow warriors could a sight to behold. I want to see Vader at his most brutal and if we get that from the movie than I will be totally happy with it.

I started The Action Elite a few years ago; it's grown from strength to strength but now seems like the right time to expand. I've always loved different movie genres like horror, sci-fi and dramas so you'll see a wide range of different movies covered here.
